The Farm Safety and Health Quiz Bowl
West 9th St. in the tent
On Wednesday, see 4-H and FFA teams answer farm safety and health questions in this semi-final quiz bowl event. The winning teams will advance to the state finals in January at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. 4-H youth compete at 9:30 a.m. FFA youth compete at 1:30 p.m. Also, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Farm Safety and Occupational Health Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the quiz bowl tent. The public is welcome.

Interactive exhibits cover such topics as nutrition and food safety, family fitness, family finances, youth development, and family togetherness. Food demonstrations are held throughout the day with a theme of "Eat Smart—Stay Healthy."

Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center
Talks and hands-on natural history exhibits give you a close look at native Pennsylvania wildlife species. Presentations featuring live turtles, snakes, and birds of prey occur throughout the day.

Explore the amazingly diverse field of crop and soil science in the 21st century. Here, you'll learn about crop management, nutrient management, organic farming, cover-crop management, weed identification, and more. Specialized research equipment is on display. Specialists from Penn State and other organizations will answer your crop-production questions. The state's best hay samples are entered here in the Hay Show. Members of the Pennsylvania No-Till Alliance will discuss no-till crop-production strategies.

Natural Resource Conservation Partnership

Through exhibits, demonstrations, and tours, learn how federal, state, and local agencies and private organizations work together to ensure the future of our natural resources. Get information on the Farm Bill, the Chesapeake Bay, energy, sustainable agriculture, wetlands, forestry, and organic farming.
Pasto Agricultural Museum
Main St. between East 9th and East 10th Sts.
See rare and antique farm and home implements in this hands-on museum of rural life. A new exhibit features tools used in the forestry and lumber industries. The eighth annual Silent Auction—featuring 400 lots of antique tools, furniture, photographs, Penn State football tickets, Penn State College and University milk bottles, and more—will take place Tuesday and Wednesday. An expanded cash-and-carry section will assist those unable to return for competitive bidding.
Agricultural Safety and Health Tent

Cargill offers farm safety activities outside the tent area under the theme “Best Safety Practices on Your Farm.” Activities will include farm safety mini-golf, a hazard hunt, and a safe-play area. Also, speak with farm safety and agricultural emergency-management specialists about programs and resources.
AgrAbility/Agromedicine Tent
End of West 6th St. next to the Farm Safety Demonstration Area
Explore hands-on displays of ergonomic tools for the farm and garden. Various free health screenings are offered daily including tetanus shots, vision screenings, blood pressure and oxygenation readings, dust mask fittings, and hand-strength and coordination assessments. Visit the tent for scheduled screening times. Earn one core pesticide-education credit by attending a 30-minute presentation, "Basics of the Worker Protection Standard," at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. daily, and pick up free Worker Protection Standard posters for your farm operation.
The Equine Experience
Main St. above the Special Events Building
Featuring demonstrations, exhibits, workshops, and seminars, The "Equine Experience" is presented by Penn State's Equine Science program and the Pennsylvania Equine Council. Come to the Small Horse Arena on Wednesday and saddle up to ride a pony provided by K&B Stables. The Large Horse Arena features horse training with Ward Studebaker, as well as demonstrations by professional horsemen, breed clinics, mule-packing demonstrations, and Diamond Lane Farms’ Black Percheron Hitch.
Equine Exhibits Building
Displays feature information about equipment and facilities, equine diseases, stable management, and equine health and nutrition. Penn State's undergraduate education, extension, and research programs are highlighted. Also, learn about breed and youth organizations, therapeutic riding, horseshoeing, and other aspects of the commercial equine industry.
Equine Learning Center
Penn State and equine industry professionals team up to offer seminars and demonstrations on a wide range of equine-related topics, geared to all levels of horse knowledge and experience. Workshops cover equine liability laws, care and feeding, trail riding, training and handling, showing, and more.

Deer Research Center

Farm Safety Demonstration Area

See safety specialists demonstrate skid steer operation hazards with a remote-controlled skid steer, Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. After the demonstrations, Northern York County Regional Police officers will discuss operating farm equipment on public roadways. Also, see a demonstration of the PAgricultural Rescue Training Program, “Managing Skid Steer Entrapments,” including emergency scene stabilization and patient extrication techniques, Wednesday at about 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m..
